A typical Linux system is largely comprised of unrestricted, open-source software. But some of the most popular software around is either closed-source or open-source, but restricted by patents.
Which video player/codec pack do you recommend? I just grabbed VLC and Mplayer, and VLC worked better, while Mplayer crashed on some divX. How does one relate windoze codec packs to codecs in Linux?
